Day 9 of 30: Family Time

The bad news. Last night I fell off the wagon. Not fitness wise, but with healthy eating. I went out to a movie with my bud Amanda and we ended up eating caesar salads & the biggest pieces of pizza I have ever seen in my life. They were the size of our heads! Then at the movie we got nibs candy. I am quite addicted to nibs. I think they're made with crack cocaine or something similar. So needless to say, this morning I was groggy from all the chow and had little to no energy. I forced myself to get out of bed and workout with Jillian. This has been the hardest day yet. A half hour later, all sweaty and tired, I made it through. I am proud of the acomplishments I have made so far. That's what I plan to use as motivation for the next 21 days.

Now for the good news. We ended up catching a late showing of Velntines Day last night and therefore we had time to go shopping at the mall! I bought some new workout gear from Lululemon, my fave workout store. It's expensive, but it really helps to look and feel good when you work out as a secondary motiviation to keep going. When I finish these 30 days my plan is to treat myself to a massage at the spa.

After pushing myself to work out this morning, I proceeded to run around the house like a chicken with my head cut off, doing laundry, vaccuuming and generally tidying and cleaning whereever I could. My parents called this morning and are expected to arrive for a visit around lunch time. I expect we will spend the rest of today visiting, shopping, eating or even, gulp, going out to dinner.

A secret for you. The hardest part of trying to lose weight is the social aspect. Everything we do seems to hinge around eating while we socialize with our friends and family. If you don't eat with them, it becomes akward. If you do, you feel guilt afterwards for either not eating healthy foods or for not sticking to your plan. So the best thing I can do for myself when faced with the situation to divert from my meal plans, is to try to eat as healthy as possible. Sometimes this is extremely difficult as pubs and bars rarely have anything on the menus which contitute real food thats not dripping with fat and loaded with salt. It is hard to avoid but on the other hand you also need to live life, so cant be chained to a diet all of the time. Everything in moderation. (Except for nibs candy.)

Day 9 is complete and looking forward to spending the day with my wonderful family!
