Day 3 of 30: Snowboarding

Sunday March 7th, 2010. I made myself get up early and workout before I could do anything else. The afternoon plans were for snowboarding lessons and I knew that afterwards I would be tired and likely not do the workout for day 3. So I was not allowed to eat, shower or even sit down until I completed the workout.

The jumping jacks and skipping routines were starting to cause my calves to become large inflexable rocks attached to my ankles. No matter what I did I could not get the muscles to relax. Maybe snowboarding and day 4 would help to work the muscles back into a plyable functioning leg.

The afternoon of snowboarding was a great distraction. Lots of excercise, falling down, getting up, falling down. You get the pattern. Beginners tip: Wear knee pads and strap a pillow to your butt. Falling hurts, yes, even on snow. I learned to stand up facing both uphill and downhill, a big acomplishment over a hurdle that plagued me back in the late 90's when I first attempted to snowboard. I learned to slide down the bunny hill frontwards and backwards on my edges and began to pendulum on the hill. then the lesson was over. I have plans to go for the second lesson to learn to turn and stop. Two key talents I believe may come in handy on the mountain runs. Just a hunch.
