My Journey So Far...

August 2006, I decided that I was going to finally lose the excess weight I had gained, during 5 years of University, moving across the country in 2004, and general horrible eating habits of burgers, pizza and high calorie drinks. It didn't get put on over night and I knew it would not come off over night. So I plunged into a life-long journey to be in great shape and feel good. No excuses!

I started out by trying the Nutri-system program. It worked well for about two months and then I plateaued. I lost 20lbs. I maintained this on my own until May 2007. Just before my 27th birthday I decided to give it another shot. I went to the Jenny Craig program. This was combined with a karate classes two nights a week, working out at Gold's Gym and two stints of Bikini Bootcamp. In just over one year, by July 2008, I was down a combined total of 85lbs! I learned to eat better and be aware of food portions. It felt great!

Trying to maintain this over the past few years I've gained back 10lbs, then lost it, then gained it again. My struggles continue. I got married in November 2009 and tried beforehand to lose weight for our special day. I worked out and toned up a bit but sadly the pounds didn't change. (I still looked great though!) It is time to get everything in check and get down to my goal weight of 170-180lbs. I imagine feeling good about myself and having even better health.

If you can't be true to yourself, who will?
